We are a nurturing and child-focused residential children’s home dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and structured environment for children and young people with emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties (EBD). The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our dynamic team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality care and support, acting as a positive role model while overseeing daily operations and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
- Promote the emotional, physical, and social development of children through structured routines and activities.
- Take the lead during shifts, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication with the team.
- Support the management team in implementing care strategies, risk assessments, and safeguarding practices.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records and reports, including incident logs, keywork sessions, and daily progress.
- Guide, support, and mentor support workers and new staff, encouraging continuous professional development.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, professionals, and external agencies.
- Contribute to team meetings and work collaboratively to deliver high-quality outcomes for the children.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience working in a residential setting with children or young people.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or Children and Young People’s Workforce) – essential.
- A genuine passion for supporting and safeguarding children.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work on a rota, including weekends and sleep-ins.
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one.
