Role Detail
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and progressive pharmacy professional to step into a senior leadership role with real influence over clinical practice, service development, and patient outcomes.
As the most senior pharmacist on site, you will provide overall clinical and strategic leadership for pharmacy services. You will be responsible for setting the direction of the pharmacy service, ensuring high standards of medicines optimisation, and leading a skilled multidisciplinary team.
The role offers the opportunity to shape both day to day service delivery and longer term development plans, while contributing to wider pharmacy strategy at a senior level.
You will hold overall responsibility for the delivery and continuous improvement of pharmacy services, ensuring care is safe, effective, and centred around the patient experience.
Key responsibilities include leading the onsite pharmacy team including pharmacists, technicians, assistants, and trainees, ensuring services meet national standards and regulatory requirements, overseeing medicines governance, audit activity, and quality improvement initiatives, and acting as the senior pharmacy advisor to consultants, clinicians, and senior managers.
You will also support the introduction of new and innovative pharmacy services, contribute to operational and workforce planning, represent pharmacy at senior meetings, and develop staff through mentoring, supervision, and advanced practice opportunities.
Requirements
• GPhC registered Pharmacist
• Significant experience working at a senior level within hospital or primary care pharmacy
• Strong leadership and service development experience
• Sound knowledge of medicines governance, patient safety, and clinical audit
• Recognised postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification
• Independent Prescribing qualification or commitment to working towards this
