Job Title: Deputy Home Manager – Children’s Residential

Salary: £31,600 – £32,800 per annum + additional £4,000–£8,000 per year from sleep-in shifts
Hours: Full-Time, 39 hours per week
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence required

Role Overview:
A rewarding opportunity is available for a committed and experienced Deputy Home Manager to support the leadership and operational management of a children’s residential home in Kettering. This position is suited to individuals who are passionate about improving outcomes for young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, while supporting a stable and nurturing care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support to the Registered Manager in running the home, maintaining high standards of care and compliance.
- Lead and supervise the care team, offering guidance, mentoring, and motivation to ensure a consistent and therapeutic approach.
- Act as a role model to staff and young people, fostering an atmosphere of recovery, safety, and personal growth.
- Support the development and implementation of individual care plans tailored to the needs of each young person.
- Oversee staff rotas, shift planning, and general home operations including budget monitoring and risk management.
- Ensure the service is compliant with safeguarding protocols and aligns with relevant legislation and inspection frameworks (e.g., Ofsted).
- Facilitate staff training and development opportunities to promote continual learning and progression within the team.
- Build strong working relationships with external agencies and professionals involved in the care of young people.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a residential children’s care setting.
- NVQ Level 4 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
- Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and child protection standards.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team.
- Experience in rota management and operational responsibilities such as budgeting.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for delivering child-centred care.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
- Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
