We are currently recruiting for a Band 7–8a Specialist Pharmacist – Aseptic Services to work on a full time basis in Wiltshire. Please see details of the role below:
Role Details
• Role: Band 7–8a Specialist Pharmacist – Aseptic Services
• Days: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm
• Pay: £30 - Band 7, £36ph - Band 8a
• Start: ASAP
• Length: 3 months (potential to extend)
• This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced hospital pharmacist to take on a senior role within an aseptic unit. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and provision of Technical Services, including parenteral nutrition, CIVAs, and cytotoxic preparations. You will provide professional supervision, expert advice, and support across aseptic services, ensuring compliance with GMP and national standards.
Responsibilities
• Manage the daily aseptic dispensing service to ensure safe, effective, and timely preparation of medication.
• Support and oversee aseptic processes in line with Section 10 Exemption and QAAPS requirements.
• Provide professional guidance, risk management, and clinical input within aseptic services.
• Deliver training to staff and maintain up-to-date SOPs, competency assessments, and quality documentation.
• Participate in quality assurance meetings, audits, and service development projects.
• Provide clinical screening of prescriptions and contribute to oncology and parenteral nutrition services.
• Deputise for the Accountable Pharmacist in their absence and undertake associated managerial duties.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across pharmacy and clinical services.
Requirements
• GPhC registered Pharmacist
• Minimum of 6 months NHS hospital experience (aseptics experience essential)
• Strong knowledge of GMP, QA, and aseptic preparation principles
• Experience in cytotoxic and parenteral nutrition services desirable
• Ability to work independently and manage junior staff
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem solving skills
