5 Personal and Professional Goals for Summer 2024

With the clocks about to go forward once again – winter and post-Christmas blues are nearly over, as spring is almost springing! No more darkness straight after work or school, the sun will continue to shine.

What does this mean for us? It’s time to think about our mid-year resolutions! Now, you might be thinking ‘what about our new-year’s resolutions?’ Well, we do often think of January being the time of year for reflection and improving ourselves. However, most of the time they are unrealistic – and often given up on by February.

If you didn’t manage to stick to your new-year’s resolutions, or want to expand your current goals – now is your chance to set up your summer goals for 2024.

Sunnier days make everything seem more possible (or shinier), so let’s see what you can do to improve your growth both professionally and personally.

Be more Organised!

Enhancing organisation skills can benefit everyone, whether in a professional or personal setting.

By improving organisation, you can reduce stress levels and instantly boost your focus. Something as simple as tidying up your workspace, meal prepping or pre-planning your outfit for the next day ahead can really make a difference!

It’s also essential in any industry to prioritise your to-do list – starting from the most important task, and leaving the least important one for later on.

By staying coordinated and keeping on top of your duties, this will lead to more success for not only yourself, but also your business!

Grow your Network

Especially if you’re someone who wants either:

-        To start a new job/career opportunity

-        To step up in your current role

-        To make a new friend!

Building professional connections can be incredibly valuable, as you never know when you might require advice and assistance.

The most obvious way you can achieve this is by using LinkedIn to connect with others in your field. Alternatively, you can attend your local industry event whether that’s in-person or virtual.

These simple objectives can help you meet potential mentors, role models or even a friend to socialise with, and they can not only guide you on your next steps to building a successful career – they can also help boost your confidence to chase your aspirations!

Upskill yourself

Take that online course, attend that class you’ve been eying up on or even watch that tutorial video on YouTube!

Learning a new skill can attain many factors, such as:

-        Gain a new hobby

-        Improve your skillset

-        Add that something extra to your CV

-        Boost your self-esteem

Allocate some time each week to learn new skills like Excel or problem-solving to stay competitive and adapt to evolving job requirements.

Even in your spare time, it is a good idea to take on that new hobby you’ve wanted to try out, or a pre-loved hobby you’re dying to get back to – such as painting, taking on a sport or even volunteering for a good cause.

Improving your Health

Before you can achieve anything else, it is absolutely vital to take care of your physical and mental health.

This is already the most common resolution we think of whether it’s January or a new season.

This is also much easier said than done! This is because we always set unrealistic expectations that’ll only set us up to fail - such as quickly losing weight, gaining abs/muscles or restricting your diet to greens and soups.

There are much simpler and more realistic ways this can be feasible:

-        Instead of scrolling through social media on your lunch break, go for a short walk!

-        Commit to a 30 minute exercise each day

-        Cut-down on social media if this is affecting you negatively

-        Learn new nutritious recipes that you actually enjoy!

Setting personal health targets is crucial for overall well-being, boosting positivity, focus, and stress management, which can positively impact both your work and social life.

We are going to conclude this blog with the most important goal of all….

Set emotional, meaningful ambitions

Make sure the goals you are writing down are meaningful and important to YOU. We have listed some effective ways to self-development, but you might not feel as passionate about them… and that’s ok.

Truthfully, if we wrote every single goal to exist – this would be a never-ending blog! Everyone solely has different aspirations and interests.

This could be a sign to help your friends achieve their desires as well as work on your own. You can work together to help each other out, and it’s an excuse to do something together!

Here’s your homework:
Note down 3-5 individual goals you aim to achieve this summer and set realistic deadlines for each. By pursuing these goals, you can broaden your skill set and experience the satisfaction of personal and professional growth.
Another important thing to do is to have fun while you’re self-improving – it is summer after all!

Good luck, we hope this has inspired you with your mid-year resolutions ahead of the new season.
