Idorsia Case Study - Switzerland

​Having a proven track record of building successful MSL teams across the UK, EU and Switzerland, Cpl Life Sciences pitched for an initial team build with Idorsia.

Scenario

Idorsia is a high-potential biopharmaceutical company, with an experienced team of over 1,200 highly qualified professionals, a full R&D pipeline, state-of-the-art facilities and a strong balance sheet – the ideal constellation for bringing successful medicines to the market. However, with their first-in-class product launch (the first product launch for the company) on the horizon, critical hires were needed in-country urgently. Idorsia wanted to partner with a local specialist with a solid network, particularly in niche areas such as sleep medicine. Their initial goal was to build the MSL team to prepare the landscape for the launch of Daridorexant and raise awareness of their medicine.

Action

Following a successful pitch against 4 other Swiss-based agencies, our local subject matter experts met with TA and HR Partners from Idorsia to gain an initial understanding of the role, salary, benefits, and, most importantly, the company culture. This was followed by a more in-depth, technical discussion with the with hiring managers about what they want from the individuals they are looking for. Our team’s knowledge of the niche therapy area, as well as the wider Medical Affairs market enabled us to provide a consultative overview of how the Medical team should be built. We suggested a fine balance of in-industry Medical Affairs experts with some of the more junior positions (mainly MSL) being placed with candidates who had existing networks in the sleep / insomnia arena, as well as an enthusiasm to transition into industry. Our team provided a detailed run through of our plan, as well as the execution and worked closely with the team at Idorsia to ensure that each of their requirements were not only met, but exceeded.

Outcome

Our team were initially given a total of 8 roles across the UK and Switzerland, two primary areas of focus for Idorsia. Boasting a 89% CV to Interview conversion rate, we successfully placed all 8 roles. This experience gave Idorsia an invaluable insight into our ability to add value in their key locations and we are continuing to grow with them cross-functionally in the UK, Switzerland and wider EU markets.
